After the year we’ve all had, we know it’s going to be tougher than ever out there for anybody looking for work. Not least for those people looking to get a foot on the first rung of the ladder.
We’ve been lucky to work in an industry that’s come out relatively unscathed by COVID, and as such we feel a responsibility to do what we can to help get things moving again. So, it seems like the right time to announce a new development we’ve been planning for a while:

Not your standard agency; not your standard apprenticeship.
We’ve made our team’s experience a key selling point over the past four years, and this is something we’re determined to maintain. Our collective approach is special not only for the amazing results we deliver to clients, but for the quality-of-life benefits it brings our consultants, who are able to get on with the work they love with minimal bureaucracy or faff.
Because of this, bringing on an apprentice is a carefully-considered move for us, and something we’ve been weighing up for the past couple of years. We weren’t prepared to pull the trigger until we were sure we could get it right.
In particular, running an apprenticeship when we all work remotely was a challenge we struggled to see a way around. Fortunately, that’s where 2020 has provided a rare silver lining – normalising home working to the point where bringing in a remote apprentice will be not just achievable, but something we can make a real success of.
This is the bit where we get to pay it forward.
At Cameo we believe there’s no fixed path into a digital career. Our three lead consultants all have vastly different backgrounds, and we don’t hold a single marketing degree between us. We each got our own breaks into digital in different ways, and a long time ago, somebody took a chance on each of us. This is our way of paying that forward.
We’re not hiring for cheap labour, somebody to get the coffee, or somebody to boss around. We’re hiring because we want to give somebody an unbeatable grounding in digital marketing.
This is not a cost-saving exercise. We’re fully expecting to make a financial loss on our apprentice. But it will be worth it.
