We're a collective of digital consultants based in the North East.
Working as a collective means we’re able to offer better value than a traditional agency, with more flexibility and direct access to our experts.
Why we started
Each of our consultants has a successful digital career under their belt. We’ve each spent many years in senior digital marketing roles, picking up a raft of awards and other achievements along the way.
Climbing the ladder in agencies and brands was a valuable experience, but we felt there was something missing. Wrapped up in management red tape, we all missed the opportunity to do what we do best: hands-on work with great clients.
Since 2016, we’ve worked together as a collective of specialist consultants, and we’re committed to working differently to other agencies. Our minimalist business structure and pared-down processes that allow us to maintain that direct connection to our clients, and keep doing the work we love.
"Do Good Work
With Good People"
We believe in doing good work with good people.
Good work is work that’s beneficial to the client, delivering results, and also work that benefits us, by being interesting, challenging and ethical.
Good people are both the clients we work with, and the team we work alongside – and a “good client” doesn’t always mean “a big brand” or “somebody with a lot of money”.
We’re serious about working in a way that’s good for our overall health and wellbeing. If the work or the people aren’t good, the job is probably not right for us.
I started my digital marketing career over ten years ago whilst at university – I was a general marketing bod for a small ecommerce company, and while the job wasn’t the most glamorous it taught me lots about what could be achieved with a very small budget and a bit of creativity!
After a few years of in-house digital marketing roles, I moved agency side and worked my way up from the factory floor to become Digital Director of one of the North East’s largest digital marketing agencies, managing a team of 30 marketers and picking up a few awards along the way, including a listing in The Drum’s 50 Under 30 Women in Digital.
I’m a creative sort and always a fan of big ideas and ambitious projects. I enjoy getting the opportunity to play to my more strategic side planning multi-channel campaigns, but I’m not all about the big picture and also love getting absorbed in technical projects or copywriting when the mood takes me.
Outside of work, I’m most often found dog walking on the gorgeous North Sea coast, or tending whichever of my serial hobbies has caught my attention at the time!
I’m an experienced senior marketer & brand communicator with over 11 years’ experience in both B2B & B2C roles. I’m also a member of the CIPR and PRCA, well-connected with journalists, and a huge advocate for best practice and high standards in communications.
I’m passionate about great marketing that gets people talking. I love creating campaigns and content that make an impact and my brain is always ticking over thinking of ways to go one better. I love all things digital and make decisions based on data and customer insight to get the most out of campaigns. I’m also a big content marketing fan, whether it’s creating it myself, directing and guiding my colleagues, or just reading the musings of others.
I’m a brand fanatic, with proven experience in establishing brands, refining positioning and defining brand expectations. This innate sense of branding has been strengthened by independent work with the likes of French Connection, Nespresso, Fentimans, Fenwick Newcastle, Hungry House, Red Hot Sunglasses, DFDS, Craft Gin Club and Hello Fresh.
I also own and operate the award-winning North East food blog, Scran on the Tyne, so on evenings & weekends you can usually find me eating my way around the city and writing about it, or walking my Labradoodle around the North East’s beaches and forests!
I’m an SEO professional with over 10 years’ experience in the digital industry.
My digital marketing career started in Manchester and since then I’ve worked in some great agencies, beginning as an SEO programmer and working my way up to the position of Head of Search for a large SEO department in Newcastle. During my time in the industry I’ve worked with some wonderful clients from Berghaus to Warner Bros. developing and implementing exciting campaigns both on a local and international level.
I’m passionate about digital marketing and love working with companies big and small to develop and implement campaigns that really make an impact. My main area of expertise lies in SEO, although I’m also well versed in various web programming languages and CMS platforms and am PRINCE 2 qualified.
Outside of the digital world I enjoy getting away from my laptop and walking in the great outdoors, especially when the north east has such great places to visit and an amazing landscape to take advantage of. It’s a great way of feeling refreshed ready for the new week to start.
Paying it forward: creating a new generation of digital marketers.
While we’ve built our success on our promise that clients will always work directly with our expert consultants, we know that the industry needs new blood too.
Each of us was once lucky enough to be given a chance with a company that set us down the digital marketing career path. Now, we’re paying it forward by training a new generation in turn.
Our digital marketing apprentices are here to learn, shadowing our consultants and supporting with campaigns under close supervision. Making extra time to train them is our way of supporting the future of the digital marketing industry.
I’m really excited to get going as a digital marketing apprentice, particularly as it’s with the support and guidance of the Cameo Digital team. In these precarious times, it’s a relief and a privilege to be able to expand my skillsets and learn practically on the job, especially with the huge stashes of expert knowledge that the consultants at Cameo can contribute to my training.
I’m a creative person at heart and I’m eager to see how my creativity can be adapted to the digital marketing world. Outside of Cameo, I’m a theatre professional working both on stage and behind the scenes as a director and writer. I’m certain that many of the skills I’ve honed in the rehearsal room can be transferred in fun and exciting ways to my training and work with Cameo Digital.
When I’m not at the theatre, I love to be creative in other ways, and lockdown has ignited my enthusiasm for painting, sewing and writing. Lockdown has also highlighted just how much time I spend being stoically ignored by my cat. I’m also very lucky to live near the stunning North East coast and enjoy taking in bracing lungfuls of sea air whenever I get the chance.
Having recently graduated from Northumbria University with a BA (Hons) in Business with Entrepreneurship, I have been on the hunt for my next opportunity, and when I saw the Digital Marketing Apprenticeship I simply had to apply. I had met the wonderful Charlotte and Gemma whilst on my marketing placement and loved working with them, and so I knew this company would be the right one for me.
I’m ready to get stuck in on the creation of innovative solutions for our clients, and love imagining new ways of doing things. I have a creative streak and I also love working with data to understand insights and improve future outcomes. This apprenticeship and the expertise at Cameo will help me learn how to do all of that effectively and become an excellent marketeer!
When there’s not a global pandemic going on, I love climbing and bouldering, and have had to adopt my dad’s VR set to do that in my living room right now. I love cats more than pretty much anything, especially Persian cats.
